America’s Next Top Model Cycle 11: Top Model Inauguration

America's Next Top Model Cycle 11

For the 11th cycle of , the CW wasted no time in getting viewers drawn into the drama. In addition to the annual selection episode, Week 1 consisted of a bonus elimination hour.

Since the 14 finalists (including a transgendered contestant) were revealed to the media weeks ago, there’s really little need to detail the events of the show’s anti-climatic first half. So let’s just move on to meaty portion of the competition, shall we?

  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  Season 2 premiere. “Summer in the Hamptons winds down as Serena and Nate carry on a cover-up scheme to make others think they’re dating.” A few choice pics sent to Gossip Girl should do the trick.
  • Prison Break (FOX, 8pm):  Season 4 premiere. “Michael is in LA looking to even the score with Gretchen for Sara’s death.” I think Gretchen should really apologize for all of last season.
  • One Tree Hill (CW, 9pm):  Season 6 premiere. “Lucas’ chosen lady meets him at the airport, while Dan’s accident proves life-threatening.” Sorry. So not caring who picks these days.
  • Raising the Bar (TNT, 10pm):  Series premiere. “Idealistic public defender Jerry Kellerman (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) fights for a man he’s sure is innocent, but holding a court is a judge who loathes Kellerman.” Gosselaar’s new hair has been generating some passionate opinions.

America’s Next Top Model Introduces Transgendered Contestant

America's Next Top Model's Isis

Throughout the 10 cycles of America’s Next Top Model, there have a number of girls who weren’t considered typical models. (Who knew tomboy Lauren would look hot with makeup on?) Then there were those with very masculine traits. (Remember when Paulina called Dominique the transvestite version of Robin Wright Penn?)

Now for the show’s eleventh season, the producers will once again be challenging our concept of beauty. For the first time, the series will be introducing its first transgendered contestant. During her interview before the judges’ panel, 22-year-old Isis explained why she chose to transform herself from a man to a woman. “I was born physically male…but mentally, everything else, I was born female.”

Wednesday Ratings: Celebrity Circus Ends Quietly

Viewers didn’t seem particularly interested about last night’s Celebrity Circus finale. They did, though, care about the Top Ten contestants on SYTYCD. The dancing competition once again helped FOX win both the demos and the viewers.

Wednesday Ratings: SYTYCD Remains Strong

Wednesday night’s ratings landscape showed very little change this week. The three main reality programs (Baby Borrowers, Celebrity Circus and So You Think You Can Dance) were all steady with their previous numbers. This gave FOX another win in both categories.
